Psychographics:

Psychographics are derived from the qualitative research of customers by their psychological characteristics such as interests, lifestyle, values, desires, and goals. Whereas demographics seek to understand the “who” (age, gender, income, etc.), psychographics seek the “why,” i.e. why a customer buys your product.

Understanding both demographics and psychographics is the best way to break down consumer analytics, as you then know not only who your target audience is but also what motivates them to buy your product, and can use that to your advantage. Since consumers are often guided by subjective decisions and attitudes/beliefs, psychographics give you greater conversational leverage as you have an understanding of what is motivating your customers to buy.
