Topical authority measures the credibility your website has on a particular topic. The more informative and high-quality articles about a specific topic leads search engines to rank that website higher on SERPs. 

Steps to build topical authority:

1. Do keyword research

Start by researching a specific keyword like “knitting” as shown in the example below. 

2. Organize findings by topics

After conducting your research, create topic clusters that are interlinked by the keyword. One of the examples shown below is “How do I start knitting.”

3. Create valuable content that meets the search intent

Write about specific topics to establish topical authority while addressing the topics that your audience wants to read.

4. Connect internal and external links to your content

Link to strong websites that are relevant to your content to rank higher.
