Use Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides with CoSchedule

Connect Google Drive to attach Drive files to projects, social messages and discussions, and to add Google Docs, Sheets and Slides to projects. Available on every plan, including the free plan.

Turn on Google Drive for your calendar

  1. From your calendar, open Settings.
  2. Click Integrations.
  3. In the Cloud Storage section, click Google Drive.
  4. Click Enable.

Settings > Integrations is open to the Owner, Managers and Admins by default. Other roles see an access-denied page, and custom roles can differ.

Connect your Google account

Once Google Drive is on, each team member connects their own Google account.

  1. In a project, social message or discussion, click to attach a file. The file library opens.
  2. Click the Google Drive tab.
  3. Follow the prompts to sign in to Google and connect your account.

You can also connect your Google account from your profile: click your name or photo at the top of the left sidebar, then choose My Account, then go to My Connected Services.

Attach a Drive file to a project, social message or discussion

  1. In your project, social message or discussion, click to attach a file. The file library opens.
  2. Click the Google Drive tab.
  3. Find and select the file, then click Save.

You can also attach files from shared drives your Google account can open.

Add a Google Doc, Sheet or Slide to a project

  1. Open a project and click Add Attachment.
  2. Select Google Doc.
  3. If you've connected more than one Google account, pick one under Choose account.

Create a new document

  1. Under Create New Document, click Google Docs, Google Sheets or Google Slides.
  2. Name the new document. It's added to the project.

Attach an existing document

  1. Under Attach Existing Document, click Select Document.
  2. Select the Google Doc, Sheet or Slide in your Google Drive.
  3. Click Save.

Once the document is attached, click Edit Inline to work on it inside the project, or Open in Google Docs to open it in Google.

Keep images you paste into a Google Doc under about 6 MB. Larger images can cause problems when the doc is converted to WordPress or shown in a read-only view. See Work with WordPress posts for converting a doc.

Fix Google Drive access errors

If you see a Google 403 or 404 error when you attach a file, or a message that an error occurred while syncing, work through these steps in order.

  1. Make sure your browser allows cookies.
  2. Open CoSchedule in a private browser window, and sign in to the Google account you connected.
  3. Go to Settings > Integrations > Google Drive and click Sync.
  4. If your account's row in the Manage Connected Google Drive Accounts table shows Reconnect, click it and sign in to Google again. The button shows only when an account needs to sign in again. My Connected Services in My Account has the same button.
  5. If the error continues, click Add Account and connect your Google account again.
  6. If it still fails, remove CoSchedule's access in your Google account, then connect again in CoSchedule. See Google's help on removing an app's access.

If your company manages your Google account, your IT team may limit which apps can connect to it. If the error doesn't clear, or several teammates see the same error on the same day, contact support.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't a teammate open a Google file attached to a project?

CoSchedule follows your Google Drive permissions. If someone's Google account doesn't have access to a file, they can't open it in CoSchedule either.

Why don't Google Drive files show in Assets?

Google Drive files aren't shown in Assets. If a Drive file is attached to a project, you can find it with the search in Assets.

Do changes I make in CoSchedule update the file in Google Drive?

Yes. The file in Google Drive updates too.

Does removing a Google file from a project delete it from Google Drive?

No. It only removes the file from the project in CoSchedule.
