Why are my Bitly links broken?

One of the most common problems, when your Bitly link fails inside of a social message, is that you have copied the “https://bitly.com/******/” placeholder link from a previous message and pasted into the text edit area of a new message.

CoSchedule displays this placeholder link of https://bitly.com/******/ until the message actually publishes to make sure that if the permalink changes between message creation and message publish, we send out the correct link. This allows you to schedule social media before a post is even live.

To ensure this doesn’t happen in the future, please make sure to use the {permalink} Social Helper when creating your messages.

When you click Preview in the bottom right-hand corner, you will see the generic Bitly link as a placeholder.
