How to Use Social Templates

Social Templates are easy-to-use templates for creating reusable social plans to promote content, events, and more.

For best practices, tips, and tutorials, check out the Getting Started with Social Templates guide.

Create a Social Template

Only Owners, Managers, and Admins can create new Social Templates.

  1. Open a Social Campaign in a new or existing project.
  2. Click Templates in the upper left corner.
  3. When the menu opens, click + New Template
  4. Then click Create New.*
  5. The Social Template editor will open.
  6. Add dates, platforms, social helpers, or anything else you want.

*You can also save an existing Social Campaign as a Social Template by selecting Save Existing instead of Create New.

How to Edit a Social Template

Only Owners, Managers, and Admins can edit a social template.

  1. Open a Social Campaign in a new or existing project.
  2. Click Templates in the upper left corner.
  3. Find the Social Template you want to edit.
  4. Select the pencil icon.
  5. Make any changes needed.

Add Social Helpers

Social Helpers are pre-built message prompts or copy “placeholders” for text, images, videos, hashtags, and other copy that can be applied to a Social Template.

While creating your template, be sure to keep all of your custom social helpers empty. This will make sure the template is reusable.

1. Create a Social Campaign or open an existing one.

2. Click Templates in the upper left-hand corner.

3. Click Create Template.*

4. Click Create New.

5. Click Create Helper.

6. Choose a Text Helper, Image Helper, or Video Helper.

7. Create as many Social Helpers as desired.

8. Once you have your Social Helpers created, you can add them to the promotion schedule within the template.

9. Select the squiggly bracket { on your keyboard and your list of Social Helpers will display, along with the default Social Helpers (Title, Permalink, and Excerpt).

*You can also edit existing Social Templates to add Social Helpers by selecting the pencil icon next to the Social Template name.

You can also create hashtag banks with social helpers.

Types of Social Helpers

There are three types of custom helpers: text, image, and video.

Default: Each social campaign has default Social Helpers that automatically get added to your Social Template when a URL is added to your social campaign.

  • Title: This is the title of the added URL.  {title}
  • Permalink: This is whatever URL is added to the Permalink field. {permalink}
  • Excerpt: This is the scraped excerpt of the added URL. {excerpt}

Custom: Create additional Text, Image, and Video Helpers that you can customize.

  • Text Helper: Want to share the same copy in multiple social messages – like event details or campaign hashtags? Instead of endless copy/pasting, create Text Helpers to create text you can easily add to multiple social messages.
  • Image Helper: Instead of having to manually upload the same image to multiple social messages, add a custom image helper to your social messages so you only have to add the image once.
  • Video Helper: Just like custom image helpers, instead of having to manually upload the same video to multiple social messages, add a custom video helper to your social messages so you only have to add the video once.

Apply A Social Template

Apply your Social Template to any campaign.

  1. Open your desired Social Campaign.
  2. Open the Templates menu.
  3. Select the template you want to apply.
  4. Select Apply.
  5. Once it has applied, you can fill in your empty custom Social Helpers.
  6. Any message with the custom helpers will then populate with the information added.
