Fix image and video errors in social messages

When an image or video in a social message has a problem, CoSchedule shows one of the errors below on the message. Find the error text to see what to do. This applies to every plan, including the free plan.

CoSchedule is still processing the media

CoSchedule is still getting an image or video ready to send. While this warning is yellow, CoSchedule is still trying to send the message. It makes up to 7 attempts over about 45 minutes, so in most cases you don't need to do anything.

Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and X have their own versions of this error that say the media is still being processed. Fix them the same way.

Don't reschedule the message while the warning is yellow. Rescheduling resets its attempts, so CoSchedule starts over.

If the message fails after the last attempt:

  1. Open the failed message.
  2. Remove the image or video from the message.
  3. Upload the image or video again.
  4. Make sure only the new upload is attached.
  5. Reschedule the message.

If the message has no image attached, add one before you reschedule. Don't delete files from your uploads while other messages still use them.

If every message to one network shows this error, the network is probably having a problem. Check status.coschedule.com, and reschedule the messages after the problem is fixed.

Video is still being processed

CoSchedule is still processing a video. Large videos can take several minutes.

  1. Wait for CoSchedule to finish its attempts.
  2. If the message still fails, reschedule it for a later time so the video can finish processing.
  3. If it fails again, remove the video, upload it again and reschedule the message.

To avoid this, schedule a video message at least 30 minutes before its publish time. That gives CoSchedule time to process the video.

We had trouble sending the photo(s) which are attached to this message

This happens when an image was added to the message by URL instead of uploaded as a file, for example an image URL sent from Zapier. CoSchedule retries the message. If it still fails:

  1. Open the failed message.
  2. Remove the image.
  3. Download the image to your computer.
  4. Upload the image from your computer to the message.
  5. Reschedule the message.

To avoid this, upload image files to CoSchedule instead of adding them by URL.

If an upload fails or times out

If a file won't upload, or the upload fails with status 0 or times out, your browser got no response from the upload server. CoSchedule tries the upload 3 times before it stops. Try these fixes:

  • Try a different internet connection once.
  • On a company network, ask your IT team to allow coschedule.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com.
  • CoSchedule replaces special characters in file names for you. If the upload still fails, rename the file and try again.
  • Check the file type. HEIC files aren't supported, so convert them to JPG or PNG. JFIF files are supported.
  • Check the file against the network's size limits. See Image, video and GIF sizes for social messages.

If you still can't upload the file, contact support. They can upload it for you. See Contact support and find CoSchedule policies.
