Mention a user or Page in a social message

Mention an account or Page in a social message so readers can click through to it. The account you mention may see the post and may get a notification. Available on Starter, Professional and Suite.

Mentions work on Bluesky, Facebook Pages, Instagram, LinkedIn Pages and profiles, Mastodon, Threads and X. Create your social message and choose the social profile first: how a mention works depends on the network.

Mention a Facebook Page

  1. In the message text, type @ followed by the Page name exactly as it shows on Facebook, including spaces.
  2. Select the Page from the list. The results show without Page icons.

If several Pages share the same name, type the name as it appears in the Page's URL to get the exact match. Always click the result in the list: a mention you type without selecting it won't link.

Mention a LinkedIn Page

  1. Type @ followed by the Page name exactly as it shows in the Page's LinkedIn URL, including dashes.
  2. Select the name when it appears.

Mention a LinkedIn profile

You can mention a person's profile only in a message posted from a LinkedIn Page, not from a profile. The mention works only when all of these are true:

  • The profile follows your Page.
  • The profile's primary language is English.
  • The profile's discovery and visibility off LinkedIn setting is on.
  • The profile allows mentions.
  • The profile hasn't blocked CoSchedule.
  • Your Page has third-party data sharing turned on.

These are settings in LinkedIn, so they're changed there, not in CoSchedule. LinkedIn explains the visibility setting in Off-LinkedIn visibility.

  1. Type @ followed by the person's name.
  2. Select the name when it appears.

Mention an Instagram or Threads account

  1. Type @ followed by the account name exactly as it shows on the account.

No list of results appears, so check the spelling before you save.

Mention an X account

  1. Type @ followed by the account's username (its @handle), not its display name. A display name can match the wrong account.
  2. Select the account from the list. The results show with icons.

Mention a Mastodon account

  1. Type @ followed by the username.

No list of results appears, so check the spelling before you save.

Mention a Bluesky account

  1. Type @ followed by the username.
  2. Select the account from the list.

Networks that don't support mentions

Pinterest, TikTok, Google Business Profile and YouTube Shorts don't support mentions from CoSchedule.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a mention in a text helper?

No. CoSchedule needs to know the network before it can find the account, so mentions don't work in text helpers. You can add mentions directly to the social messages in a social template.
