Schedule a first comment

Schedule a first comment to publish along with your social message, for hashtags, links or context that you'd rather keep out of the post itself. Available on Starter, Professional and Suite, and on the free plan.

Add a first comment

  1. Open your calendar and click +Create, choose Social, then select Social Message.
  2. Choose a Facebook Page, Instagram account, LinkedIn Page or profile, or X account.
  3. Write your message and add any media.
  4. Scroll down to the publishing options for that network and type your comment in the First Comment field.
  5. Select the date and time, then click Save.

The comment publishes with the message.

Social helpers such as {permalink} don't work in first comments. Paste the full URL instead.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if only the first comment fails?

The message itself is already live. Don't reschedule it, or it will publish twice. Add the comment on the network itself instead. To see why the comment failed, open the message on your calendar: it shows an error with the likely cause. CoSchedule doesn't send a notification when a first comment fails.

What if a published Instagram message shows a yellow warning about its first comment?

When the message already shows as published and the yellow warning is about its first comment, the post is live and only the comment didn't go out. Don't reschedule the message; add the comment on Instagram itself. If it keeps happening, reconnect the Instagram account.

Do first comments work with ReQueue?

Yes. Messages in ReQueue publish with their first comments.

Can I ask for first comments on another network?

Yes. Send the request to CoSchedule support as a feature request.
