Facebook couldn't accept your message because it is experiencing temporary downtime

This error means Facebook had a temporary outage when CoSchedule tried to publish your message. It can happen on any plan.

What the error says

While CoSchedule is still trying to send the message, the alert reads:

An error occured when sending this message, CoSchedule will attempt to send this message again throughout the next several minutes. Facebook reported it couldn't accept your message because it is experiencing unexpected temporary downtime. CoSchedule will attempt to match this message to determine if it successfully posted.

If every attempt fails, the message is marked failed and the alert reads:

Facebook couldn't accept your message because it is experiencing temporary downtime. CoSchedule exhausted all attempts to resend this message. Rescheduling your message should resolve the problem. If not, please contact support.

Why the post may already be live

When Facebook reports downtime, the post may already be live on your Page even though Facebook returned an error. While CoSchedule is still trying, it checks whether the post went up so it can match it to the message. It makes up to 7 attempts over about 45 minutes.

Fix it

While CoSchedule is still trying, wait. Don't reschedule the message yet. Once the message is marked failed:

  1. Check your Facebook Page for the post.
  2. If the post is there, you don't need to do anything.
  3. If it isn't there, reschedule the message.

You can also publish the post directly on Facebook. Social Sync adds feed posts you publish on Facebook to your calendar (not Reels or Stories).

You can check status.coschedule.com for CoSchedule service updates.
